Marty and Doug,
my condolences to you both. I had written Aunt Sharon several times in the last ten years. On my visit to Southern Germany I had written to her from Frankfurt describing the countryside I had seen, the rolling hills, castles, river boat tours, valleys, pear and apple trees and the scents of Summer in the air. That and the churchbells playing as I wrote to tell her of all I had seen and experienced while on my trip. Months later in a letter she told me the rural setting that she was in and the antics of Coco and the experiences of having sheep and how Coco the wonderdog to very good care of them.
I will always remember the joy in her written words telling me all about the joy that Coco and the sheep brought to her, especially Coco the wonder dog.
With love from her nephew.
Chris Hoyt

Mart and Douglas I am so sorry we lost our Sharon, she had so much more to do on earth.
Sharon you were a daughter, sister, wife, mother, niece and aunt.
You landed a part-time job in a florist shop as a teenager. You were blazing a trail for other teenage females wanting a taste of financial freedom, by earning money whilst still in school. Being a 'war baby', this was the beginning of your independence and your introduction to the retail business.
Dad's sudden death in 1970 shook us to the very core. We were young adults married, with young children, and had never experienced personal family tragedy before.
Mom became a young widow embarking on a new beginning as a single parent. I believe your support along with your sunny disposition, your mild, calm, even temperament reassured Mom through her grieving period.
Mom enjoyed your visits to O'Brien St., over the decades. For Mom's Birthdays, Christmases and other special occasions you so carefully shopped for gifts that you thought Mom had never seen before and would like. As always your taste was impeccable. You wrapped, packaged and mailed them in time for the 'BIG' occasion. She thought your gifts were soooo very special. Your kindness made Mom feel special. When you bought a Tiara for Mom to wear at her Birthday celebrations, she felt like a 'Queen.' You were a good daughter Sharon.
Always patiently listening to Mom and others was a unique gift few people possess, you had that gift. Sharon you made people feel special. Indeed you were a 'GEM' amongst unpolished stones.
Books were a particular passion of yours. I remember the Windsor Library staff constantly leaving phone messages saying there were books at the library for you to pick up. In your teen years your favourite books were Harlequin Romances. Well your interests changed by the time our Mom (aged 90 yrs.) was nearing the end of her life. Bissett Court, Mom's home in 2012; was when I found out just how much your interests changed. "Fifty Shades of Grey" by E.L. James was published in 2011, women were devouring her book. You were in 'The know'. We laughed and giggled over that book, how refreshing it was to know our interests were aligned.
Methodical, practical, diligent and creative were lifetime qualities you possessed. These qualities were especially demonstrated in your personal style, your home, and during your retail career. You were always respectful of others, and your ability to make direct eye contact when conversing with others, left them feeling they had your undivided attention. You were always willing to help anyone with anything.
You lived a life of fullness Sharon, full of relationships, friendships, activities, travelling, volunteering and as a fitness enthusiast. You enjoyed outdoor activities which included walking, gardening, lawn maintenance and snow removal; you also attended summer family get-togethers, including the family genealogical reunions.
I hope the socks I knitted, kept your 'tootsies' warm last winter.
I miss the calls we had and I miss the calls we will never have. You are now in Heaven, so you can't be reached by phone.
You did not dwell on the past, you lived in the present and you looked forward to the 'future'.
Farewell Dear 'BIG' Sister Sharon, Heaven is now your 'future'.
"You Are Always On My Mind, You Are Always On My Mind."

Dear Mart & Douglas I am so sorry to hear of Sharon's passing.
Sharon I was in my early teens when you first came into my life. Holding you in my arms when you were just a precious, tiny baby.
You graduated from Edgehill School for Girls and left for the 'BIG' city of Moncton, N.B. You were spreading your wings and you were going to 'Conquer the World'.
Canada Post and the telephone became our modes of communicating. Throughout your adult lifetime you always remembered my Birthday, Christmas and Easter. You were always so thoughtful and kind.
Once you became a wife and mother, your purpose in life was as a devoted, loving wife to Mart; a loving, caring mother to Douglas, a wonderful homemaker, and a dedicated niece to me. Accomplishing all the former while living both Nationally and Internationally. Indeed you did 'Conquer the World'.
After both you and Mart retired, you both would come 'East' in the summers to visit. We three would go to lunch, at our favourite spot; "The Tea Room" in Grand Pre, N.S. During these visits we would catch up on family news and current issues of the day.
I will always remember you Sharon as a generous, mild mannered, and caring 'LADY' who deeply loved and cared for her family unconditionally, with kindness and compassion.
Sharon, you are now free from pain; in heaven looking down. Still caring for those you love. 'Conquer the Stars' Sharon.
Good Bye Sharon, may you Rest in Peace.
