Peacefully at home, while surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the age of 83. Adored husband of 58 years to Elizabeth “Betty” McDonell (née McIntee). Survived by his brother Mark McDonell, and sister-in-law Evelyn McDonell. Loving uncle to Bernadine, Brenda White (Shawn), Brent (Anne), Blake (Janet), and the late Blane. Dear brother-in-law of Ruby McIntee (late Danny) and Mary McIntee Mayville (late Lawrence). Cherished uncle of Larry, Sheila, Jason (Amanda), Kimberly, Kelly (Colette) and Karen Nadeau (Stephan). Son of the late James and the late Mary Jane (née McCosham) McDonell. “Bartie” will be fondly remembered by his aunt Rita MacDonald, special cousins, great nieces and nephews, friends, neighbours and fellow parishioners of St. Martin of Tours Church. Family and friends are requested to gather at the Salon Funéraire Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main St. S., Alexandria, (613) 525-3400 on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Church, Glen Robertson on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11 am. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. A private committal will be held at a later date. In memory of Barton, donations made to Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
